In both Oregon and Washington Bankruptcies, you must attend a Meeting of the Creditors, also known as a 341 Hearing, and at that meeting, among other things, you must provide both proof of Identification and your Social Security Number.

Bankruptcy debtors must provide an acceptable form of picture identification (“ID”) and proof of social security number to the trustee at the meeting of creditors. Failure to do so may result in you having to come back for a second hearing some weeks out. Failure to bring these documents may also result both in additional bankruptcy attorney fees as well as an unhappy bankruptcy trustee. Acceptable forms of ID include:

1.) student ID;
2.) consulate card;
3.) state picture ID;
4.) driver’s license;
5. Passport;
6.) military ID;
7.) resident alien card; and
8.) government ID.

Acceptable forms of proof of social security number include:

1.) social security card;
2.) Internal Revenue Service Form 1099;
3.) pay stub;
4.) medical insurance card;
5.) W-2 form; and
6.) Social Security Administration report.
