Consumer bankruptcy filings rose eleven percent nationwide in February after a slow January. However, compared to February, 2010, the numbers declined by eight percent. While it’s still to early to tell, the numbers for the first two months of this year suggest that the number of filings this year will not approach last year’s levels of over 1.6 million filings.
